ITINERARY
DAY 01 BRUSSELS
Arrival in Brussels and transfer to the hotel. Free time to get to know the city. As long as your flight arrival time allows it, you will meet your tour guide at the hotel reception in the late afternoon. In the evening we will take a night walk with our guide through the city center, passing through its most lively areas until we reach the wonderful Grand Place, which becomes magical with its special night illumination. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 02 BRUSSELS
Panoramic tour with local guide: the Grand Place, with the King’s House, the Guilds House, and, above all, the Town Hall, built between 1402 and 1455. Highlights the Gothic tower of 96 meters high, which ends with a statue of the archangel St. Michael, patron saint of Brussels, defeating the Devil; the Manneken-Pis; bronze statue of about fifty centimeters; Sablon district, the Palace of Justice, the Atomium, etc. We will also visit a chocolate factory, where, in addition to knowing it, we will have a tasting. Rest of the day at leisure or if you wish, you can take an optional excursion to Leuven, where Erasmus of Rotterdam taught at the university. DAY 03 BRUSSELS – GENT – BRUGES (MP)
Breakfast. This day we will make a tour of Flanders, visiting two spectacular cities: First, we will stop in Ghent, to discover its magical corners such as the Castle of the Counts of Flanders, the Cathedral of St. Bavo, a masterpiece of Gothic art and the place where in 1500 Charles V was baptized, the Belfort Tower, the Church of St. Nicholas, St. Michael’s Bridge with beautiful views of the buildings built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, etc. Continuation to Bruges. Lunch. Free time to enjoy discovering the charm of its houses and canals, the Lake of Love, the Beaterio, Grote Markt Square, the Basilica of the Holy Blood, from the 12th century, where the relic of the Holy Blood of Jesus Christ is kept, etc. If you wish, you can take an optional visit with a local guide in both cities. DAY 04 BRUGES – ANTWERP – MIDDLEBURG – PLAN DELTA – ROTTERDAM (MP)
Breakfast and departure to Antwerp, one of the world’s diamond centers. Free time to enjoy this wonderful city, if you wish you can take an optional panoramic tour, in which you will know its most important places such as the Grote Markt (Market Square), with the town hall with Italian and Flemish details, the slaughterhouse, and within this tour will be included the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the most important church in the Netherlands and one of the largest in the world, etc.. Continuation to Middleburg. DAY 05 ROTTERDAM – DELFT – THE HAGUE – AMSTERDAM
Breakfast. Free time in the center of Rotterdam, a city that, after its total destruction in World War II, became a modern and avant-garde city, which contrasts with the rest of Holland. Continuation to Delft, beautiful city known for its beautiful blue porcelain and its streets full of flowers, full of charm, a city closely linked to the Dutch royal house. Free time to visit its historic center as the Market Square, with the New Church, Gothic style and where are the mausoleums of the Dutch monarchs, the Renaissance town hall, etc. Then we will go to The Hague, the city of palaces and avenues, embassies and ministries, is the seat of the government of the Netherlands, the Academy of International Law of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, the International Court and residence of the Dutch royal family. DAY 06 AMSTERDAM
Panoramic tour with local guide: Mint Tower, Rokin, the floating flower market, Dam Square, the Royal Palace, the National Monument, the Berlage Stock Exchange, the Central Station, St. Nicholas Church, the Jewish Quarter, etc. Rest of the day at leisure or if you wish, you can take one of our interesting optional excursions such as a tour of the “Jewish Amsterdam”, in which we can understand that Amsterdam, thanks to a tolerant mentality as the Dutch society, could have the largest Jewish community in Europe, we will pass by magnificent synagogues, such as the Portuguese, the statue of Spinoza, the Dutch Theater, the Auschwitz Memorial in Wertheim Park.
DAY 07 AMSTERDAM
Breakfast. Free day or if you wish, you can take advantage of an interesting optional excursion that will give you a complete picture of this land and its people: First we will visit the interesting town of Alkmaar, where we will see the cheese market, during the period of realization of the same, we will visit Zaanse Schans, popularly known as the village of the mills, a place where we will find a faithful reproduction of life in the region of the Zaan, and walk among the traditional wooden houses, warehouses and windmills and then we will go to the fishing villages, where we will see the perfect harmony between the different cultural and religious communities in the Netherlands: Marken, of Protestant religion, where the traditions have been kept alive for six centuries, which we can still appreciate in its streets, its inhabitants, and its picturesque corners; it was originally an island and is now connected to the mainland by a dike and a road and Volendam, with a long Catholic tradition, well known in ancient times as a meeting place for pilgrims and missionaries and today, in addition to interesting shopping, you can taste fish dishes, characteristic of the region.
