ITINERARY

DAY 01 TUNIS

Arrival in Tunis. Transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight. Tunisia is located between the eastern foothills of the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Approximately 40% of this nation is composed of the Sahara desert, while the rest is fertile soil perfect for agriculture, in addition to having 1,300 km of coastline. Dinner

DAY 02 TUNISIA – CARTHAGE – SIDI BOU SAID – TUNISIA

Breakfast. Visit the Bardo Museum, home to the most important collection of mosaics in the world, most of which date from the second to the fourth centuries, and the medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. The medina is the center of the city of Tunis: a group of narrow streets and covered passageways, full of dense smells and colors, bustling and active centers of trade and barter, a myriad of products on offer ranging from leather goods to the finest filigree to tinplate. It contains some seven hundred monuments including palaces, mosques, mausoleums, madrasahs, and fountains from the Almohad and Hafsid periods. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit of Carthage, founded in the 8th century BC by the Phoenicians. The ruins of Carthage were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979; the typical village of Sidi Bou Said, with the facades of its houses, painted white and blue rises on a cliff offering magnificent views over its bay. Return to Tunis. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 03 TUNIS – KAIROUAN – SBEITLA – TOZEUR

Breakfast and departure to Kairouan, the holiest Muslim city in Africa and the fourth in the world after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem. The only place visited seven times dispensed from the dogma of the pilgrimage to Mecca. Visit the Great Mosque of Sidi Oqba Ibnu Naffa, founded in 671 (d. JC), and the mausoleum of the barber, called Sidi Sahbi. Tour of the old city. Visit to the local handicraft workshops of Kairouan. After lunch in a local restaurant, departure to Sbeitla to visit the Roman-Byzantine ruins, including the Arch of Triumph, the public baths or baths, the forum, and the Gate of Antony that leads to it. Continuation to Tozeur. Arrival, dinner, and lodging.

DAY 04 TOZEUR

Breakfast. Morning departure by 4×4 car to visit the mountain oasis, Chebika, Tamerza and Mides, continuing on the unusual tracks of Oung Jemel (The English patient) and Aariguette (Star Wars). Return to Tozeur and lunch. In the afternoon, walk in the palm grove, the old city and the souk of Tozeur. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 05 TOZEUR – DOUZ – MATMATA – MARETH – D’JERBA

Breakfast and departure to the salt lake Chott El Djerid, the largest salt lake in Africa. Continuation to Douz, the so-called ‘Gateway to the Desert’ and visit of the market square. Possibility to take a camel ride in the dunes. Continue to Matmata. After lunch, we will visit the so-called ‘troglodyte houses’ (rooms carved into the mountain around an open courtyard). Passing through La Faam, Mareth, and Jorf and after taking the ferry, arrival in Djerba. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 06 DJERBA – MEDENINE – GABES – SFAX

Breakfast. Tour of the island visiting the Berber village of Guellala and its famous pottery and the synagogue of Ghriba, the capital Houmt Souk, the Roman road (Al Kantara) and passing through Medenin, arrival in Metameur to visit the ghorfas (fortified granaries built on superimposed floors). Lunch and visit of the spice market (souk El Jara) and the oasis. Then Sfax with visit of the medina. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 07 SFAX – EL JEM – MONASTIR – TUNISIA

Breakfast and departure to El Jem to admire the Roman amphitheater (3rd century AD). Visit of Monastir, the Martyrs Square and the Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba. Lunch at the Restaurant Le Chandelier located in the marina of Monastir. In the afternoon, crossing Sousse, visit of Port El Kantaoui. Arrival in Tunis. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 08 TUNIS

Breakfast. Free time until the time of transfer to the airport to board the flight to your destination and end of our services.
